As you are all no doubt aware, Armiger Helverins come in pairs. So...
...following on from my recent post about this dude, it won't come as a surprise that I have another one to show off:

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 15 (Fourth Knight Finished)
Papa Nurgle is back with more corrupty-goodness!
He's corrupted another Imperial Knight to join the ranks of House Putrefacio.
This time it's the first of a pair of Armiger Helverins that I picked up when they were released.
I like these guys. In fact, I think if I was a pilot of a Knight I'd prefer one of these to their bigger cousins.

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 14 (Maniple)
The Knights of Nurgle march forth - it's a good job you can only see them and that the internet doesn't yet (though I believe it's intended for the next release of the iPhone) carry smells!
Muahahahaha!

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 13 (Third Knight Finished)
The third and final knight for my Renegade Knight army is complete.
I've built this one once again from an eBay purchase and there were bits missing. The autocannon is missing its mount so is just glued in place and the shield is absent.
The missile pod on the carapace was entirely built by me as a showcase for how poor my sculpting skills are. Still, it does the job.

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 12 (Second Knight Finished)
I have completed (almost - I think I'll have another go at the freehand on the banner at some point) my second Nurgle Knight! One more to go.
I have photographed these on my standard (and getting very tired now) backdrop. Some of my other recent models are visible - either ignore them or please let me know your favourite theories why these knights are fighting a battle with Mortarion (not too much of a stretch), a Death Guard Marine (again - easy peasy), some fantasy Zombies (erm - you could make that work), a Kharadron Overlord (creaking significantly) and some Vikings (Medic!).
You'll notice from the photo above that this model is missing its shield and autocannon. That's not intentional - those parts were simply missing from the model when I picked it up second hand.

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 11 (Second Knight Started)
The second of my Chaos Knight conversions is firmly underway. I''m not planning to churn out as many blog posts to cover this knight as I did for the previous one as it is broadly following the same pattern of work.
As such, my first post finds me firmly half-way through the work with the model based, all the green-stuff work done and painting complete on the lower-half of the model:
Any of you who are keen eyed may note that the waist on this model ends in a flat surface which is not usual for a knight. There's a good reason: I bought this model second-hand (thanks again, eBay!) and had utterly failed to notice from the photos posted on the auction that the model's previous owner had (for reasons only known to him/herself) attached the upper half of the model so that it was facing backwards.
Honestly. So the model was hack-sawed in two ("Cleft in twain" for Fantasy-oriented readers :) ).
It was nicely painted, and all the modelling work on the base is as it was when I bought it so I can only assume I got it from an experienced modeller. I guess it was probably a gaffe - the mini was clearly part painted before assembly (all the detail behind the face-armour had been painted) so I think it was probably mis-assembled at the last gasp. It must have been gutting for the previous owner and is probably why it ended up on eBay.

Nurgle Knight Titans - Part 10 (First Knight Finished)
So here is my fist completed Nurgle Knight!
This fella was great fun to build and paint. I'm really looking forward to doing the other two to join it on the battlefield. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to and I'm dead pleased. I'm normally happy with the way my models turn out but they often don't actually turn out the way I'd envisaged. This model is exactly what I'd hoped for.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 9
Almost there!
All done apart from the shoulder armour, and it's looking just the way I'd hoped it would: suppurating, pestilential, corrupt and revolting.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 8
Onwards and upwards - time to get the upper part of this model sorted out.
I've constructed and painted the main torso section and got the head and the cowl around the head sorted out.
I'm enjoying the process of modifying this model - sculpting the buboes and gashes and so on is good fun. I've got no idea what I'm doing, but I'm enjoying it.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 7
It's finished!
Well, from the waist down anyway.
I've managed to squeeze in the armour panel that I was blocking with the Nurglings - a tentacle and horn had to go and I had to tie it fast with string whilst the glue was drying to stop it levering out of place but it worked and it's now in place, along with all the other leg armour.
I've added my usual mix of basing materials too and I think it's looking pretty good:
Time to start on the upper half!

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 6
OOOooooooohhhhhh!!!!!! Getting proper excited now!!
Since my last post I've done more work on the metals (more drybrushing and some washes), completed the Nurglings and painted and attached the first of the armour plates (upper legs).
It's starting to look exactly as I'd hoped it would!
I still need to solve the issue of the Nurgling near the foot - I think I can just trim it down a little and squeeze the leg armour in so I'm trying not to do anything too drastic at this stage.

Nurgle Knight titans: Part 5
Finally I am at a stage where some paint can start to go on the first Knight. To say I'm elated would be over-egging it a little, but not by too much.
So at this stage I've put an over-brushed basecoat on the Nurglings, drybrushed the rubble and ground on the base and applied a load of metallic drybrush-work in three different shades to the mechanical bits of the legs:
For my next trick I'm hoping to complete the Nurglings and get the armour plates done.
One thing I've realised is that the Nurglings near the left foot of the model are going to get in the way of the leg armour. I'll mull that over and decide on a course of action.
Stay tuned.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 4
The corrupting power of Nurgle has finished working it's rotten magic (in other words the modelling phase is complete)! Everything is ready for a spraycan undercoat.
Here are some photos of the mutated armour sections of the Knight taken just prior to being undercoated:

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 3
More Green Stuff! Mooore Greeeeen Stuuuuffff!
I'm having a ball working on these conversions. I'm no sculptor (I'm sure you can tell!) but I'm really enjoying the business of layering up the various layers to make 3D amendments to models. It's not something I do very often and I do tend to get a bit nervous about it but I'm having fun so I will keep going.
It's difficult for me to decide how far to go. GW/Citadel have produced these highly detailed, intricate models. I can't hope to match the skill of the original ladies & gents that had a hand in designing and modelling them, so I don't want to go too far with my own crude sculpting, but by the same token I do need to try to represent the Chaos and Corruption of the plague god so I can't pull it back too far.
Constructive criticism is welcome - especially if you have an idea for a feature that I can add to the model besides the buboes/ruptures/etc. that I've already done.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 2
I have made a tentative start on corrupting one of my Imperial Knight models.
I have very little in the way of skills with green-stuff which is kind-of the point of doing this exercise - I intend to go totally mental with it in order to try and force myself to improve.
So I've kicked things off by adding a few details as follows:
I'm not done with this lot yet. I want to add more detail (I need to work out how to sculpt some maggots for a start-off), Nurglings and all sorts of claws and flesh-effects.
It's a tentative start so far, but I'm happy enough. It's obvious already that this project is going to take a while from start to end.

Nurgle Knight Titans: Part 1
I did it again.
Instead of staying focused on the various projects I was already working on, I started another one.
"What a maroon!" as Bugs Bunny might have said.
So what am I up to this time? Well, I bought three Imperial Knight models off some nice people on eBay and I'm planning to go mental with Green Stuff and turn them into Knights of Nurgle.
I bought this guy, who was a BNIB still on sprues chappy. I'm not quite finished building it:
And this guy who was partially constructed. Only one problem - the carapace-mounted multi-launcher is missing. I might have to get creative (it's more fun than just buying from a bitz store):
And this guy. Fairly nicely painted - looked promising on the photos. I would have repainted him anyway, but that's not the point. The point is that I should have looked closer at the photos. The person who built it, did a nice job with one exception. They glued the fully constructed, painted-before-they-glued-it-together legs and torso the wrong way around so his chest was facing backwards. I had to hacksaw it in two.
I'm looking forward to building and getting creative with this bunch. It will test and hopefully force me to improve my sculpting skills and should be a good laugh to boot!
