Middle Earth SBG (Wild Wargs)

No end yet in sight to Middle Earth painting! Still enjoying it though.

This time it's a pack of Wild Wargs which can either run with my Moria Goblins (if I include the Beastcaller) or with an Angmar army.

Looking at the photo and with the benefit of hindsight, I wish I'd taken time to tidy up the mould lines a bit. I genuinely just didn't even realise how visible they were until I saw the pics.

Middle Earth SBG (Mordor Orcs - part 2)

You can never have too many Orcs, am I right?

So, here are another batch to add to the Middle Earth baddies I'm working up.

I'm nearer the end than the beginning on the rank and file now. I'm starting to get itchy to start other projects and it's taking some considerable self-control not to say "I'll come back to these in a while" and wander off.

Middle Earth SBG (Warg Riders - part 2)

More goodies for my baddies! A second batch of Orc War Riders to strengthen the forces of Evil readying to rampage across Middle Earth (at some point in the future, whenever I can get a game together).

The school summer holiday period is coming up. Not that I'm still at school, but I do have kids. School holidays are a great time for modelling productivity for me, because instead of running around, washing breakfast, ironing kids and making uniforms, I can get my paints out!

So I'm looking forward to a few weeks of serious productivity!

Middle Earth SBG (Warg Riders - part 1)

More bad guys from Middle Earth - this time it's some Warg Riders from Mordor, Angmar or Barad Dur as you see fit.

Since Orcs are basically interchangeable between many forces, I figure I can probably field various armies by adding the appropriate heroes and "specials" to an Orc-y core.

Middle Earth SBG (Mordor Orcs - part 1)

And the bad guys just keep on coming!

This time, a unit of Mordor Orcs joins the growing throng of Middle Earth evildoers.

Loads done, loads more still to do. Trying to stay focussed, even though I have a shiny new Necromunda box beckoning to me...

Middle Earth SBG (Morannon Orcs - part 1)

My plan is to heavily reinforce the forces of darkness in Middle Earth. Sauron and Saruman did a well-poxy job of trying to conquer it so I'm going to have a go.

I've always fancied being a dark lord.

Anyway, as well as collecting goblins for Moria, I'm also going to generally collect bad-guys so that I can field forces for Isengard, Mordor or (if the whim takes me) Angmar. Since most of these are based on Orcs I can collect a large Orcish core and basically use the same models with different heroes and a few fluff-models to represent any of them.

So, here is my first batch of Orcs (from the Pelennor fields set):

Middle Earth SBG (Moria Cave troll)

The goblins of Moria have enlisted some help!

This big guy should help this army have a bit of "wallop" I hope.

Middle Earth SBG (Witch-King of Angmar on Winged Beast)

A "big bad" joins the evil force that I'm building up. The boss-man of the Nazgul - the Witch-King of Angmar riding on a Fell Beast.

Great model and straightforward to paint. This is another model from the Pelennor Fields boxed set.

Middle Earth SBG (Nazgul)

Orcs to the left of me,
Nazgul to the right,
Here I am,
Stuck in Middle-Earth again...

Sorry - couldn't resist.

Anyway - I've picked up the "Battle of the Pelennor Fields" set. First thoughts: It's a terrific value-for-money deal. There's something like £180 of content (if bought separately) for £90 retail.

One of the items in the set is the Witch-King of Angmar on Winged Beast model.

This isn't him.

But on the same sprues, in case you didn't want to mount the Witch-King on the beast, you also get bits allowing you to build a regular(!) Nazgul. So, if you happen to have a spare horse lying around (which I did) and feel like doing a little hacking and bending, you get a free Black Rider.
