This may well be my final post of 2016 so I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to look in on my blog, drop me a comment or "+1". Thanks to all of you.
A third group of Rhinos is complete and ready to take to the field. I'm intending to get some troops ready to be transported in these APCs early in 2017 so stay tuned for updates.

Epic Ultramarines: Warlord Titan 3
It's Titan time again!
Here is the penultimate Warlord Titan that will accompany my Ultramarines.
I do have one more all painted up and ready to go, but unfortunately it's had an accident (the base snapped off at the ankles) so isn't ready for photographing. What I will do is pop some magnets into the base of the ankles and the tops of the feet so that it can be removed for storage, These fellas were always weak at that point so adding something allows them to deliberately break away and reconnect at that point should solve the problem nicely.

Saga: Vikings (Part 2 - Hearthguard)
More Vikings - a unit of elite Hirdmen to accompany the Warlord!
Once again these are Gripping Beast models, equipped this time with Dane axes.
I think Gripping Beast have done a great job with their dark ages minis. Dynamic poses, nice sculpts and good castings. Very easy to work with.

Epic Ultramarines: Rhinos #2
So, in a frenzy of drybrushing I've completed another trio of Rhinos for my Epic Ultramarines.
Painting at this scale is easy, spray black, drybrush Ultramarine Blue, drybrush again with a little white added to the blue. Retouch the black on the guns, exhausts, tracks and smoke launchers then back to drybrushing with Chainmail on those parts, allowing the brush to catch a few extra edges for the sake of easy weathering. Paint on the Ultramarine badges - done!

Epic: Ultramarines - Reaver Titan
Accompanying my Warlords as they crush the Great Enemy underfoot will be this chappy - An all-metal Reaver Titan.
At the moment, it's missing its carapace weapon (somewhere in my house is another multi-launcher just like the ones in it's armpits). Until it's found, I can always use a plastic push-fit weapon from the Warlords.

Epic Ultramarines: Rhinos #1
Still plugging away, switching between projects. I've got a few more models ready for the 6mm Ultramarine army. A few Rhinos. I'm doing them in small batches of three as that is how many is required to support one unit of Marines when playing at this scale (there are 25 Marines to a unit).
I like them!
6mm 40K was always a favourite - I never managed to do the models justice first time around. I have a huge collection that have remained unpainted for a couple of decade as a result. Time to right that wrong, step-by-step!

Saga: Vikings (Part 1 - Warlord)
Time to start another army - why not? I'm only working on 3 others, right?
I visited the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery with my family a few months ago and was fascinated (again) by the Staffordshire Hoard. This amazing collection of Saxon artefacts and the associated items that the Museum have produced to enhance the display got me all excited about Saga again.
I'd already built an Anglo-Saxon army and next in line were some Vikings, so I've dusted off my sprues and nippers and started working on them.
Here's the first unit in what will be a 6-point army - my Warlord. I based him along with a Standard bearer to make him look a little more impressive.

Epic:Ultramarines: Warlord Titan 2
I have completed a total of four Warlord Titans to support my 6mm Ultramarines. This is the second of the four.

All the weapons are interchangeable so the models can be tooled up as you wish. The weapons shown here are just a random selection.

Orks: Boyz Mob #2
Following on from my Dreadtober efforts I've completed work on another unit of 12 Boyz for my ever growing Ork Waagh!
These are all models from the Black Reach boxed set - I picked up a big load of BR models for beans in a series of eBay auctions so I have quite a lot of these guys.

Epic Ultramarines: Warlord Titan 1
I've ignored my 6mm 40K project for a while and am determined not to let it fall by the wayside. Whilst Dreadtober was great for getting work done on the Orks it did detract from other projects I have on the table. Time to refocus.
So here is the first of four Warlord Titans I have prepared for this army. Decals are from the Imperial Guard tank sheet.

Orks: Killa Kans - Part 5 Finished! (Dreadtober 2016)
And the boyz in the binz are finished! Woohoo!
I'd like to thank Joe from Broken Paintbrush for hosting Dreadtober - it was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
All the detailing and weathering is done and I'm entirely satisfied that I've painted these chaps to the best of my ability. I'm certainly happy enough with the result anyway.

Orks: Killa Kans - Part 4b (Dreadtober 2016)
Not an official step on the #dreadtober schedule, but I've decided to display this step in progress anyway. I've completed all the detailing work on my Kans and I'm very pleased with how they're going.
A bit of weathering will finish them off.

Orks: Killa Kans - Part 4 (Dreadtober 2016)
Hi all - it's Dreadtober week 4 and I'm still enjoying working away on my Ork Kans.
This week is all about basing so I've added some snow & grass to the bases so that they fit in with my standard basing scheme and - just because it's Dreadtober - I've also added a few snotlings here and there. When looking at the models they seemed (despite my preference for keeping the palette to a low colour count when I'm working on models [I still wake up screaming when I think back to W40K 2nd edition]) to need something else to detract from the reds & metals. Details are still to be added but I'm mentally struggling to think of other colours that I feel will work on these models so adding some details that aren't part of the actual Kans themselves seemed a valid choice.

Orks: Killa Kans - Part 3 (Dreadtober 2016)
Episode 3 of my Dreadtober project is complete.
I have undercoated (black), drybrushed (chainmail - old flavour of GW paint) and laid on the majority of the base color for the Kans (Burnt Umber, Red, Blood Angel Orange and Orange).
I gave the bases a bit of a quick drybrush too.
And so far I'm very pleased with the result:
I've gained a new found respect for the next model. Until I started painting it I didn't quite realise how much detail was on it. It's actually a splendid model - not sure why I ignored it for 20-odd years.
