I'm still trying t experiment with a bit of freehand painting. It doesn't come naturally but I think I'm happy with my results so far.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQv5PFv79AHD9k3nNNOCFNnh28I1fcxPLI6u3RF0qYTLfaLhTJW3N2NEZVHvuzyrxfUq8eRGqCC3SSLoXBSDMaNzdl6iqkSymDv06WANwdrkQ_REQFmF2xoA4E9yNxnUjHAE7QiHvtW2s/s3648/IMG_20200624_084751.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQv5PFv79AHD9k3nNNOCFNnh28I1fcxPLI6u3RF0qYTLfaLhTJW3N2NEZVHvuzyrxfUq8eRGqCC3SSLoXBSDMaNzdl6iqkSymDv06WANwdrkQ_REQFmF2xoA4E9yNxnUjHAE7QiHvtW2s/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_084751.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGjBfDpa0KKJYD0RVjkcFNW2-HVVC6nPUEUM5yxdqqWe5G53-nnKdzJG97awjOW7NGiu1opRTOpNgZz9Fie8doy-Eb8r0QUEx286zc-Jz7GhBw3KX4EqxhIccZvyptCPezHxHUlvJ02Ek/s3648/IMG_20200624_084739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGjBfDpa0KKJYD0RVjkcFNW2-HVVC6nPUEUM5yxdqqWe5G53-nnKdzJG97awjOW7NGiu1opRTOpNgZz9Fie8doy-Eb8r0QUEx286zc-Jz7GhBw3KX4EqxhIccZvyptCPezHxHUlvJ02Ek/w480-h640/IMG_20200624_084739.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8reWYiJ8x4UWAQafspNGWZklLl_wlcbrN5X-b7LhjkV9wPD1WkYgzCjeJNYLqLRL1suWeOBnBTjvVBCEoQMK5erPgJQQPgL8jQ8Lx1UYvj_DafCWk_E85X0RIzXd-77XKtPbfBhmhuo/s3648/IMG_20200624_084717.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8reWYiJ8x4UWAQafspNGWZklLl_wlcbrN5X-b7LhjkV9wPD1WkYgzCjeJNYLqLRL1suWeOBnBTjvVBCEoQMK5erPgJQQPgL8jQ8Lx1UYvj_DafCWk_E85X0RIzXd-77XKtPbfBhmhuo/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_084717.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBeseBSI63CF9ve75uOTc0JOTmL0N0ttbrjR2SbjkUKg7LYOUzvi74gXOkarTBQduzRN-sGaP8cFHA4uvIXY83huSbAJwRVP7O2e3xO4KiFAHn0gqkh1nzZ_NAMrJPZa5dj8BguaJvd2A/s3648/IMG_20200624_084707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBeseBSI63CF9ve75uOTc0JOTmL0N0ttbrjR2SbjkUKg7LYOUzvi74gXOkarTBQduzRN-sGaP8cFHA4uvIXY83huSbAJwRVP7O2e3xO4KiFAHn0gqkh1nzZ_NAMrJPZa5dj8BguaJvd2A/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_084707.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>I have one more update to provide on the Titan whereby it gets some proper weapons for the first time! I just haven't photographed much and written it up. Time for things to change. </p><p>The Titan I am working on still isn't finished, but I have made some progress. I've been slowed down somewhat by some other stuff I worked on (posts to follow) and also by the fact that it's winter and as this is a 3D-printed model and my 3D-printer is in my shed the colder, more damp weather tends to cause difficulties in the printing process. So the printer has had a couple of months off.</p><p>That said, there are bits I printed and painted that I haven't blogged about yet, so by way of a catch-up I'll present here the first section of the shoulder armour.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDEUM1y7iIc_WAvLmzTnlxtgpHX4uoHzXemaQTKXjHOgMXM3mi3037XVTpq5opMZrMm-XCWbHMP10ehMg_616E4iGCqPt-isXQRjoxTnYiXWjnq-C2FmVXBFzR2pw0miKPlU4Wjea8AD0/s3648/IMG_20200624_080230.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDEUM1y7iIc_WAvLmzTnlxtgpHX4uoHzXemaQTKXjHOgMXM3mi3037XVTpq5opMZrMm-XCWbHMP10ehMg_616E4iGCqPt-isXQRjoxTnYiXWjnq-C2FmVXBFzR2pw0miKPlU4Wjea8AD0/w300-h400/IMG_20200624_080230.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhln3cWIfChkwBGzO3im9Pk59vUDVLmL0dVkEXVlxYC62xRLxN9u97qzAQQxwYH402XQnktuerEMhmOSMshtX-J4dlQfpsUoOmrsUl2ll4F_HooeOBplccF4w70rNpECRfeENVbGHUkunQ/s3648/IMG_20200624_080240.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhln3cWIfChkwBGzO3im9Pk59vUDVLmL0dVkEXVlxYC62xRLxN9u97qzAQQxwYH402XQnktuerEMhmOSMshtX-J4dlQfpsUoOmrsUl2ll4F_HooeOBplccF4w70rNpECRfeENVbGHUkunQ/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_080240.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJmvUe1raFIHi6bAly1iZj0mBdHUgaQu3ZmKtsBTA6IhADwrzqro_ERmYZ0w0m2YaNhNX03a0IvCGkNeXPwyNZRwyPHVgcL3yPPtfWCA2kFYjGxmVcvsdL_vdsPxinX27bGxLsKAPO5Xs/s3648/IMG_20200624_080248.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJmvUe1raFIHi6bAly1iZj0mBdHUgaQu3ZmKtsBTA6IhADwrzqro_ERmYZ0w0m2YaNhNX03a0IvCGkNeXPwyNZRwyPHVgcL3yPPtfWCA2kFYjGxmVcvsdL_vdsPxinX27bGxLsKAPO5Xs/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_080248.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz9KFk5pmbDj3Exg5bsjRlRNAKkF6o6BLcZxbvC9pBuQF4EqkxiHr7PPSgpg32BQPz1I7oJ2VO-u5ob-h56__9BLBSc3-HSYeLb0CElI-8eiyZoRF5zdDUQCY9vzuc2lKKmmYIsZRWsmA/s3648/IMG_20200624_080258.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz9KFk5pmbDj3Exg5bsjRlRNAKkF6o6BLcZxbvC9pBuQF4EqkxiHr7PPSgpg32BQPz1I7oJ2VO-u5ob-h56__9BLBSc3-HSYeLb0CElI-8eiyZoRF5zdDUQCY9vzuc2lKKmmYIsZRWsmA/w400-h300/IMG_20200624_080258.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div>I'm going to try to get back to posting on a weekly basis in 2021. <br /><p><a class="cursorsHover" href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Warlord%20Titan" style="background-color: #1c1c1c; color: #dd7700; font-family: Lato; font-size: 14.85px; text-decoration-line: none;">More Warlord Titan Stuff:</a></p>Dean Kelly at Wargames Wastelandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11774032019205085072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213178495374750677.post-237300439578484482020-10-15T09:26:00.001-07:002020-10-15T09:26:19.864-07:00Warlord Titan (Part 10 - Collar armour and Shoulders)<p> As I've been working through this model I have been pushing myself into areas of painting I've never dabbled in before.</p><p>I started off in my old comfortable way of drybrushing the hell out of it and painting armour in basically solid colours. By the time I had completed the model up to the hips, I was starting to appreciate that this approach - whilst fine for anything up to the size of a tank - was starting to fail.</p><p>The model was looking too flat and "slabby".</p><p>So I decided to try to vary things up a little and introduced the red & silver "trompe l'oiel" stripes and checkers. I'd never done anything like them before and (whilst I will fully admit my approach is very simplistic) I'm pleased with the results.</p><p>So I've decided to try to go a little further and attempt (without a safety net) a little freehand painting:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnQLI8mYlDAgqoFKrUT8uk34z2gHl7X65tL5uTTYf_MQ2LlPzUmsGT_TcRRqXSN3J9F4Nr5LXpmMdLQoXt6CFjMwawTM_LO2ySc2IYORYw6aaZSdZpb_5LEsEpRzRmhDOlPsVO6IiUA9Y/s3648/IMG_20200525_161810.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnQLI8mYlDAgqoFKrUT8uk34z2gHl7X65tL5uTTYf_MQ2LlPzUmsGT_TcRRqXSN3J9F4Nr5LXpmMdLQoXt6CFjMwawTM_LO2ySc2IYORYw6aaZSdZpb_5LEsEpRzRmhDOlPsVO6IiUA9Y/w400-h300/IMG_20200525_161810.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbcpI9e0L29VGh2lGDJLwa-NBiWKP7HWv_yO-q9O_EJdGocxjZLNJ20nEtsAJozVyzXSxIXIExyCiBKcZ0mmXyqO7ZImE1JddcIkdPFh54MaJe8N3rgNwpE9Pw8ZKlkfGZ11sy7FS1dwM/s3648/IMG_20200605_084111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbcpI9e0L29VGh2lGDJLwa-NBiWKP7HWv_yO-q9O_EJdGocxjZLNJ20nEtsAJozVyzXSxIXIExyCiBKcZ0mmXyqO7ZImE1JddcIkdPFh54MaJe8N3rgNwpE9Pw8ZKlkfGZ11sy7FS1dwM/w400-h300/IMG_20200605_084111.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p>Stay tuned for more (if you're still awake 😋).</p><p>I've also added some shoulders to the model ready to hang some arms off and support shoulder armour:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRij-Kp9RZ85YIQiMufT6h2uDAik17PSvNu4xDivVx6c-fU0Fiuv9HiWYAB-RhFe7uvsFfquoUOAYYTs10InzKAMzYeWrm1ENToVHqbxAb8bP_SXmeCOWuGavy9ZoT2nCbeUZ2CBaYuXI/s3648/IMG_20200605_083814.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRij-Kp9RZ85YIQiMufT6h2uDAik17PSvNu4xDivVx6c-fU0Fiuv9HiWYAB-RhFe7uvsFfquoUOAYYTs10InzKAMzYeWrm1ENToVHqbxAb8bP_SXmeCOWuGavy9ZoT2nCbeUZ2CBaYuXI/w640-h480/IMG_20200605_083814.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGJHImdKqKQXQM5hvZqan5GcSD6VqduTySz9x2PModI96ywp8SKFxu9SG2vySaUGwN-xVzSa1ZXzbaoFxmCr-_Ff-9BjogFpOC_HtzYsywWS_EZ6FE84I9hATnrNN2Ptj6rEH3p8OVStg/s3648/IMG_20200605_083836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2736" data-original-width="3648" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGJHImdKqKQXQM5hvZqan5GcSD6VqduTySz9x2PModI96ywp8SKFxu9SG2vySaUGwN-xVzSa1ZXzbaoFxmCr-_Ff-9BjogFpOC_HtzYsywWS_EZ6FE84I9hATnrNN2Ptj6rEH3p8OVStg/w640-h480/IMG_20200605_083836.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Done some weathering too 😁.</p><p><a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Warlord%20Titan">More Warlord Titan Stuff:</a></p>Dean Kelly at Wargames Wastelandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11774032019205085072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213178495374750677.post-87336436272131328372020-09-11T07:22:00.001-07:002020-09-11T07:22:25.126-07:00Warlord Titan (Part 9 - If you want to get ahead...)<p> Get a head!</p><p>This is undoubtedly my favourite part of the model. I ended up mis-building the damn thing again and had to literally tear the torso section apart and put it all back together again. </div><div><br /></div><div>Nerve wracking, but it worked. </div><div><br /></div><div>As I mentioned in the previous post, I have made a move away from the solid blue/yellow and added a contrasting red/metal stripes/squares pattern. So I decided not to try to solve my issue with the legs bing on backwards as - once the armour was on (hail blu-tak!) it looked OK and seemed to be stable (bye-bye blu-tak, hello glue!).<br />
<br />
The trickiest bit was the patella-plates - they're sort of pinned, sort of perched. The rest is fine.<br />
<br />
However, I am now facing a new dilemma...<br />
<br />
When I started this, I figured "this is going to be a big model. I like to keep my range of colours to a minimum as I dislike 'busy' paintjobs, but all one colour would be a bit too solid."<br />
<br />
So I opted for a two-tone scheme. And I'm starting to worry that even that may be too solid. So for the upper part of the model, I might introduce something else. Don't know what yet.<br />

So I got myself a new toy last year - a 3D Printer. My intention is to use it for creating scenery pieces.<br />
<br />
As is my wont, however, after using the machine to print several upgrades for itself and learning a bunch in the process, I got distracted...<br />
<br />
I'm still going to use it for scenery pieces (I have a bunch of stuff to print for my <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Middle%20Earth%20SBG">Middle Earth SBG</a> <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Moria">Moria army</a>, for example), but I have discovered that some nice person has created the models for printing a 28mm scale Warlord Titan.<br />
<br />
So now I'm making one of those.<br />
<br />
These things take a long time to print - the five components making up this foot took a couple of days, for example. This is a project that I will be running with for some time.<br />
<br />
<b>Now a confession: </b>I have actually printed quite a bit of this model and am working through painting it up, so there will be a series of posts over the next few weeks to get me up to date with where I really am, then it may well all slow down.<br />

Hey, hey, hey, sports fans.<br />
<br />
Here is the second batch of buildings I have painted towards <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Osgiliath">my little Osgiliath project</a>.<br />
<br />
I'm aiming for something that is flexible, changeable and easy so I'm sticking to using off-the-shelf GW models. I've swapped a few bits around here and there just to keep things interesting.<br />

I've focused quite heavily on bad guys up until now. Aside from The Fellowship I really haven't painted any goodies at all for Middle Earth.<br />
<br />
Well, that changed recently when I decided to (excuse the pun) flesh out the Dead of Dunharrow force that came with the Pelennor fields set.<br />
<br />
So, before the "War in Gondor" book that came out with the new King and Heralds models, I trawled ebay and (excude the next pun) added some meat on the bones of the army for not a lot of cash.<br />
<br />
So, here are my King (original metal model) and some of his mates:<br />

As you may well have noticed I've been on a bit of a "Middle Earth Mission" recently.<br />
<br />
Well, I'm still on it. Five separate armies on the go (The Fellowship, Moria, Isengard, Mordor (and friends!) and The Dead of Dunharrow).<br />
<br />
I needed a break from painting "people" so I've decided to do some scenery pieces too.<br />
<br />
The easiest way to start was to pick up some of the GW ruins which can be bought quite cheaply off eBay so that's exactly what I did. I decided to have a go at building something that could be used as either "random ruins" or - deployed in quantity - Osgiliath (I'm still searching for something that could represent the infamous bridge - stay tuned).<br />
<br />
Anyway, here are the first few items:<br />

I have been a lazy person recently.<br />
<br />
Not that I haven't been painting and building my metaphorical a*se off - I have. A lot actually. A very large whole big lot.<br />
<br />
No - what I've been remiss on is photographing and blogging.<br />
<br />
So here's a bit of a catch-up on one project - The Fellowship of the Ring.<br />
<br />
I've previously displayed my <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20Fellowship%20of%20The%20Ring">Boromir, Sam and Gandalf</a>. All well and good. More recently I've completed the rest of the group. So here they are:<br />

I'm still well pleased with the finished results for this clan. I'm not sure which clan I'll paint up yet - I have Van Saar and Goliath to think about. I really want to do some Palanite Enforcers and some Genestealer Cult too.<br />

Hard work painting these guys!<br />
<br />
Building was challenging too - so many bits! For armament I stuck to the loadouts in the instructions in the kit. I swapped heads and hair around.<br />
<br />
I'm proud of the way they turned out, though.My only concession to uniformity is the hair colour - I decided these ladies would all got for the same highlighted blue hair. Like bad-ass Marge Simpsons.<br />
<br />
I've named the models after key players from the 2019 England Women's Football World squad. The name banners on the bases are painted to indicate the forward arc and the template fits them nicely.<br />

As a distraction from all the Middle Earth stuff I'm working on I have taken on a mini-project as an occasional breath of fresh air.<br />
<br />
Well, I suppose it would in actuality be foetid, rank, recycled air.<br />
<br />
I've travelled into the Hive World of Necromunda for the first time.<br />
<br />
I was recently given the boxed set and a box of Van Saar to I'm doing occasional bits of work on them. I've been going at it off and on for a few weeks whenever I need a break from Middle Earth stuff. I've only just got around to taking any photos though.<br />
<br />
So I present to you here the stuff I've done so far, in the order that I did it.<br />
<br />
First up, I decided that as well as the Zone Mortalis stuff that comes in the box I was going to pick up some MDF walkways/gantries etc. I'm not presenting any of that here ('cos I haven't built it yet!) but it stood to reason that I was going to need a playing surface.<br />
<br />
I happened to have a 4' x 4' hardboard sheet lying around, so I got to work with a few rattlecans and some masking tape and produced this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji-mFRiCDPNNfWDNMgguIAqjSleVLL0R0ZFL17t1tdSBDXVhKGcRCnnOoGnKXC_Q3OG-WttmMw82dRSqQVPLvKEWmbyyBmLt-fXs9A8H_2QRg1Rm3Qo7695QtWA_a11W5IZeiyQNC-jaA/s1600/IMG_20190917_092929+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="495" data-original-width="1024" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji-mFRiCDPNNfWDNMgguIAqjSleVLL0R0ZFL17t1tdSBDXVhKGcRCnnOoGnKXC_Q3OG-WttmMw82dRSqQVPLvKEWmbyyBmLt-fXs9A8H_2QRg1Rm3Qo7695QtWA_a11W5IZeiyQNC-jaA/s640/IMG_20190917_092929+%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I have also painted up some of the scenery items from the boxed set:<br />

Hi all - here are the remainder of my DIY Goblin Captains. <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/2019/07/middle-earth-sbg-moria-goblins-part-7.html">As I mentioned in my previous post</a>, I have an issue with the ME: SBG Hero tax which means you are obliged to fork out bundles of cash for no-mark captains which are currently only sold in resin from Forge World.<br />
<br />
I'm pleased to note, though, that since I wrote that I've seen a couple of releases from GW for plastic heroes so maybe things are going to change a little soon.<br />
<br />
Anyway, in the meantime, here are my remaining Goblin Captains. All are conversions from standard Goblin plastic line troops.<br />

No end yet in sight to Middle Earth painting! Still enjoying it though.<br />

This time it's a pack of Wild Wargs which can either run with my <a href="https://wargames-wasteland.blogspot.com/search/label/Moria">Moria Goblins</a> (if I include the Beastcaller) or with an Angmar army.<br />

Looking at the photo and with the benefit of hindsight, I wish I'd taken time to tidy up the mould lines a bit. I genuinely just didn't even realise how visible they were until I saw the pics.<br />

Each warband (some armies excepted) <b>*must*</b> be led by a hero. The seniority of the hero controls how many models the warband can contain.<br />
<br />
When you're looking at an army like these goblins which (based on points cost <b>AND</b> also the way they were portrayed in the fictions, especially the movie) are a classic "Horde army" then you need a lot of heroes. Typically one per 12-or 15- models. So, for 100 goblins you're looking at 6 - 9 hero models, minimum.<br />
<br />
And, of course, the heroes are only available from Forge World and therefore will cost (financially) as much as the unit they are leading.<br />
<br />
I can't be doing with that.<br />
<br />
So I managed to pick one model up from eBay (Durburz) and built the rest from spare plastic goblins.<br />
<br />
I think it worked OK.<br />

<br />
The school summer holiday period is coming up. Not that I'm still at school, but I do have kids. School holidays are a great time for modelling productivity for me, because instead of running around, washing breakfast, ironing kids and making uniforms, I can get my paints out!<br />
<br />
So I'm looking forward to a few weeks of serious productivity!<br />
